Practical barista training inside a real cafe

Cafe Ready Intensive is a 4-hour hands-on barista training session at First Fruits Coffee in Labrador.

It is designed for beginners who want practical cafe-ready skills, people looking for barista work, home baristas who want hands-on help, and future cafe owners who want to understand the basics before they jump in.

First session

  • Saturday 1 August 2026
  • 2:00pm-6:00pm
  • First Fruits Coffee, Labrador
  • Launch price: $199 per person
  • Limited to 8 students

What you will practise

  • Espresso extraction, dosing, tamping, shot timing, and yield
  • How to make grinder adjustments with a clear reason
  • Milk texturing for common cafe drinks
  • Basic latte art foundations
  • Cafe workflow, cleanliness, and service habits
  • Common beginner mistakes and how to correct them

What you will be able to do

By the end, you should be able to pull a balanced shot, texture milk for a flat white, and understand the pace and habits expected in a cafe trial shift.

This session is run by the First Fruits Coffee team inside our Labrador cafe, so the training stays practical, hands-on, and close to real cafe service.

Who this is for

  • Beginners who want a practical start
  • People applying for barista or cafe work
  • Home baristas who want hands-on coaching
  • Future cafe owners who want to understand the bar

What to bring

You do not need to bring coffee equipment. Please wear comfortable closed-in shoes and clothes you are happy to train in. If you are doing this because you want barista work, bring your questions about cafe jobs and what employers look for.

Important notes

This is a practical skills session and certificate of completion. It is not a nationally recognised qualification.

If you cannot attend, please contact us as early as possible. Because places are limited, missed sessions are not automatically refunded. If you give us enough notice and we can fill your spot, we may be able to transfer you to a future session.
